Convened under Emperor Constantine, the council addressed the Arian controversy and confessed the Son as of one essence with the Father.
The dispute concerned the identity of Christ, not merely a disagreement about words. The council rejected Arius’s teaching and set forth its confession of faith. This is an introductory summary, not a complete account of the council.
The Fourth Crusade
